Latest Avalanche Safety Course Information

UPDATE: Our sincere apologies but Sky's The Limit Guide Service has recently quit doing business and untill we can find a professional guide with proper credentials and NFS / BLM permits for teaching in the mountains surrounding Las Vegas. The closest area to take a course is in Mammoth or Salt Lake City at this time and we are working towards trying to get the Community College to offer and avalanche course to help educate and keep the backcountry of our majestic mountains safer for all outdoor enthusiasts.

As promised details are coming in and since holidays are so near it looks like January will be the best month for a: 2 day in the Mt. Charleston backcountry, and possibly 1 night classroom, Avalanche Safety Training Course. Instructor is an AMGA Climbing Guide employed by Sky's The Limit guide service, Level 3 Certified Avalanche Training teaching the user friendly American Institute Avalanche Research & Education's new format being established across the country covering below details and much more. Tests: Snowpits, Roost block, Tilt Test, Compression, etc. Searches: Beacons & Probes & improving the critical time of location and extraction etc. (rarely does someone survive for more than 30 minutes buried.) Safe Travel Techniques: Avoiding terrain traps, high danger times and visual clues to keep you safer etc. Everyone attending course will need to have a Rescue Beacon.
Cost of the course will be 200.00 per person payable to Sky's the Limit and a minimum of 6 people. If interested we need confirmation and dates that would best work for you. Have fun & be safe while in the backcountry or out in the frontcountry shopping frenzy this cool yule filled holiday season!
